Alexa Ray Joel on the Burden of Having Superstar Parents
Joel was born in Manhattan, New York. She began writing songs at a very early age. Growing up in a musical household, she developed a gift for singing and songwriting and was always encouraged by her mother Christie Brinkley.
In her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Alexa stated that the ballad "Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)," found on her father Billy Joel's album River of Dreams, was written for her, and is her favorite song of his.[7] The song "The Downeaster Alexa," on Billy Joel's Storm Front album, shares her name. Alexa wrote the song “Now It's Gone” about her mom’s split from Peter Cook after the allegations of his infidelity.
It can’t have been easy to grow up with a supermodel mother and a pop superstar father, but 24-year-old Alexa Ray Joel is doing her best to form her own identity in the music world. Besides being famous for her music and her parents, Joel has also battled depression, ending up in the hospital last December after an overdose.
Joel told People magazine that heartbreak over her first love, Jimmy Riot, who played bass for her, was at the root of the depression. She began dating Riot when she was only 19, and the two split in 2008, a split that was followed by a couple of temporary reconciliations. Add to that the stress of her mother’s nasty divorce from third husband Peter Cook and her father’s marriage to a woman only four years older than she is, and it’s understandable how things could get out of hand.
Joel is now seeing a therapist and has become closer to her parents, to whom she says she now talks openly. She certainly doesn’t lack for work, having recently released a new CD and also signing on to become a spokesperson for Prell shampoo, a gig her mother had a generation ago.

Miss USA 2010
Miss USA 2010, the 59th edition of the Miss USA pageant, was held at the Theatre for the Performing Arts in Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 16, 2010. The winner, Rima Fakih of Michigan, will represent the United States in the Miss Universe 2010 competition. Miss USA 2009, Kristen Dalton from North Carolina, crowned her successor at the end of this event.
LAS VEGAS – Lebanese immigrant Rima Fakih says it was a certain look from Donald Trump that tipped her off that she had won the 2010 Miss USA title.
The 24-year-old Miss Michigan beat out 50 other women to take the title Sunday night, despite nearly stumbling in her evening gown.
Fakih took top honors at the pageant at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip after strutting confidently in an orange and gold bikini, wearing a strapless white gown that resembled a wedding dress and saying health insurance should cover birth control pills.
Fakih, an Arab-American from Dearborn, Mich., told pageant organizers her family celebrates both Muslim and Christian faiths. She moved to the United States as a baby and was raised in New York, where she attended a Catholic school. Her family moved to Michigan in 2003.
Miss USA 2010-Miss Virginia USA Samantha Evelyn Casey was the second runner-up, Miss Colorado USA Jessica Hartman was third runner-up, and Miss Maine USA Katherine Ashley Whittier was the fourth runner-up.
Most of the field of contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia were eliminated just after the pageant began and the entire group danced onstage to "TiK ToK" by Ke$ha.
Pageants were held to select the representative for each state between June 2009 and January 2010. During the final show on May 16, the fifteen delegates with the highest average score from the preliminary competition were announced. The top fifteen competed in the swimsuit competition. The top ten delegates from swimsuit competed in evening gown. The top five delegates from the evening gown competition (not averaged composite scores from both competitions) competed in the final question round to determine the winner. The judges' composite score was shown after each round of competition for the fourth time since 2002.
Robin Hood is a heroic outlaw in English folklore. A highly skilled archer and swordsman, he is known for "robbing from the rich and giving to the poor,"[1] assisted by a group of fellow outlaws known as his "Merry Men."[2] Traditionally in films, Robin and many of his men are depicted wearing Lincoln green clothes.[3] Some accounts give the colour worn by Robin as scarlet, which may provide an explanation for the name "Robin."
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
When Robin and his Moorish companion come to England and the tyranny of the Sheriff of Nottingham, he decides to fight back as an outlaw.
Having watched and been very inspired by the British television series "Robin of Sherwood" (1984), where a Saracen merry man was introduced into the Robin Hood-legend and let loose in Sherwood Forest, the makers of the film originally called Morgan Freeman's character Nasir, thinking that the character played by Mark Ryan in the British TV-series was a traditional one drawn from the old legend. When stuntman Terry Walsh, who had also worked on "Robin of Sherwood" (1984),

Oklahoma City residents rate the quality of City services well above national averages
Oklahoma City Council received good news today from the national survey firm, ETC Institute. Eight out of ten Oklahoma City residents who responded to a citizen satisfaction survey distributed in June think Oklahoma City is not only moving in the right direction but is also a good place to live, raise children and work.
Oklahoma City is the capital and largest city of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. The county seat of Oklahoma County, the city ranks 31st among United States cities in population. The city's estimated population, as of 2008, was 551,789, with an estimated metro-area population of 1,206,142. In 2008, the Oklahoma City-Shawnee Combined Statistical Area had a population of 1,275,758 residents. Oklahoma City's city limits extend into Canadian, Cleveland, and Pottawatomie counties, though much of those areas are rural or suburban. The city ranks as the eighth-largest city in the United States by land area which includes consolidated city-counties; it is the largest city in the United States by land area whose government is not consolidated with that of a county (or, in the case of Alaska, a borough, or in the case of Louisiana, a parish). The city is the largest city and metro area in population of the traditional 'plains states' as well as the South Central United States outside of Texas.
Oklahoma City lies along one of the primary corridors into Texas and Mexico, and is just three hours from the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The city is located in the Frontier Country region of the state and the northwest part of the city lies in a ecological region known as the Cross Timbers. Since the time weather records have been kept, Oklahoma City has been struck by nine violent tornadoes, eight F4's and one F5.[9] On May 3, 1999 parts of southern Oklahoma City and nearby communities suffered one of the most powerful tornadoes on record, an F-5 on the Fujita Scale, with wind speeds topping 318 mph (510 km/h). This tornado was part of the 1999 Oklahoma tornado outbreak.
Office style your shirtdress with an appropriate jacket or trench coat.
Go From Day To Night With A Shirtdress
The “borrowed from the boys” menswear look is always in fashion and can be seen throughout the decades from Annie Hall to almost any street style maven you see on the blogosphere today. In my mind, the blazer, newsboy cap, or even the perfect trouser has nothing on the shirtdress! They can be found in a variety of fabrics, sleeve lengths and silhouettes so there’s a shirtdress for any occasion (maybe except a wedding dress, but go ahead and prove me wrong!).
For a day at the office style your shirtdress with an appropriate jacket or trench coat and simple pumps. When you’re ready for happy hour and a night out on the town, throw on a statement necklace and a pair of strappy sandals for a totally different look. In a perfect world I would keep an arsenal of different shirtdresses like the super casual Chambray western shirt dress and then also something a little dressier like the bebe Romantic shirtdress. I also suggest bringing one or two of your favorite belts while you’re shopping for a shirtdress so you can see how it looks loose or form-fitting!
